New Century Charter School is a public charter school in Verona currently rewriting it's charter with the hope that NCS will become a "Green School". If the school board approves our mission statement and renews our charter, the school will then appropriate teaching models that place the environment and environmental sciences at center. PS. We need all the help and support we can get!!! I am not on the schools site counsel this year and have not been active in rewriting the charter but understand that we may need community and state support --media support suggesting that the development of a green charter school would benefit public instruction not just in Verona but Madison, the state, and reaching far beyond. Charter schools are often the safe testing grounds for new and innovative teaching methods and models that can then be implemented in neighborhood schools. By supporting a green charter school (s), Dane County has an opportunity to distinguish itself as a county that values green philosophy and science with all of the complexity that environmental challenges and issues hold for our world at this time. We need help getting our little local school district and officials to understand the far reaching impact that supporting a green school will have.

This is great!! I wish I could be more in the groove with taking the bus. My job is not always exactly 8 hours and I worry about catching a bus when it's late, snowy, etc.

One other comment - someone did tell me that the ads on the Metro buses confuse seeing-eye dogs. Is this true?

Soon, UW engineering students will rebuild the Bucky Wagon to make is safe for travel and the turf in Camp Randall. (Barry banned the wagon after it dripped oil.)
This would be a visually compelling piece, especially once the students are actually pulling it apart, and it demonstrates how a the generation currently in school is thinking differently about our energy future.
